DAILY DOSE:
Creating a Need for Wisdom
By Tzvi Freeman
If G–d had made a perfect world, what need would there be for wisdom?
So He left shattered vessels for us to repair. And in doing so, we engage a wisdom deeper
than that which fashioned the earth, the sun and the stars.

DAILY DOSE:
Bread from Heaven
Your place is the wilderness. The bread you eat falls from heaven.
The basket you collect it in is your attitude.
Clutch your basket tight and your manna will have no place to rest.
Open it up and look to the heavens and your basket will always be full.
Tzvi Freeman
Daily Dose from the Rebee

Maaneh Rach, ch.5; Rabbi Pliskin's Gateway to Happiness, p.175)
If you give up your demands for more possessions
and material matters, you will save yourself much needless sadness.
Sadness does not come from lacking possessions,
but from your "lack of acceptance" at not having them.
Next time, when you are unable to acquire something,
accept that you do not have it --
and avoid adding emotional pain to your practical problem of not having that thing.
Should you avoid material possessions?
No. Just don't make oneself sad about those things you do not have.

A full volume test of the new alert and notification sirens located
throughout the emergency planning zone will be held Wednesday February 11,
2009 between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. The sirens will sound for four
minutes.

In an actual emergency, the new sirens would sound simultaneously at full
volume for four minutes. The sirens are not a signal to evacuate but rather
to alert the public to tune to their local Emergency Alert System (EAS)
radio or television station (100.7 FM-WHUD) for important information.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Office of Fire & Emergency Services at
1-800-942-1450, should you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Nicholas A. Longo, Jr.
