DAILY DOSE:
The Neck
By Tzvi Freeman
Between the head and the heart lies a narrow passage called the neck.
This is to our advantage, so that when the heart rushes in frenzy over its desires and its fears,
the head can still observe from its perch above the rapids and direct the heart back on course.
It is also to our disadvantage, because the head must speak
very loud and clear to make itself heard to the heart so far below.
From the wisdom of  Rabbi Menachem Schneerson, of righteous memory

In 1944, Jewish day schools in America got a major boost when Rabbi Shraga Feivel Mendlowitz
founded Torah Umesorah, the National Society for Hebrew Day Schools.
Of the estimated 850,000 Jewish school-age children in America,
about 200,000 are presently enrolled in some 900 Jewish day schools
-- more than triple since the 1960s.

TV CONVERTER BOXES:
On June 12, all television signals in the United States will change over from analog to digital.
Although this transition offers great benefits to the nation, we still must be ready for the change.
This Friday, any analog television receiving free, over-the-air broadcasts and not connected to a
digital converter box, will stop receiving signals. When this happens, these TVs will essentially “go dark”
and stop receiving signals.  The owners of these televisions will be unable to watch their favorite programs.

BEAR SIGHTINGS

There have been several bear sightings in the area over the last few weeks.
Several of the sightings were of a mother with three cubs. Please do not
leave any type of food items out at night that might attract the bears. It
would probably be a good idea to not keep filled birdfeeders out until these
bears make their way back North into the mountains. If it's not too
inconvenient, try not to put trash out until the morning of your pickup.

In general, bears will try not to interact with people, and will run away
when they hear noises or see lights. However, a mother bear will not be
scared off easily especially if she is protecting her cubs. Obviously, you
should not try to approach any bears that you see.
You can call the Ramapo PD (357-2400) if you see them. In most cases the
bears will have left before they get there, but if not, they will try to get
the bears to move on.

Thank you,
David Goldsmith

Holocaust Museum attacked by gunman.

WASHINGTON - A gunman who opened fire at the Holocaust museum here Wednesday
was an 88-year-old man with links to the white supremacist movement, U.S.
media reported.

Fox News, NBC and CNN all said the gunman had been identified as James von
Brunn, a Maryland resident, who has long been tied to hate groups and
anti-government organizations and served a prison sentence for taking a gun
into the Federal Reserve.

The gunman and security guard were taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds,
a police spokesman said. A third person was slightly wounded, possibly by
breaking glass, but did not need further treatment.

While the motive for the shooting remained unclear, Fox and NBC television
reported that its correspondents had been told the gunman was 89 years old
and may have links to a white supremacist organization.
