Community Message- Wesley Plaza Shopping Center

Hi,
Please note that we have been informed by the Ramapo Police that they will not wait until January to start enforcing the new no left turn sign at the Wesley Plaza Shopping Center.  Because the landlord installed the new signs, they must now be enforced.  I asked the NYS DOT if we could cover the signs temporarily until everyone was notified and aware of the new rules, but that request was refused.

I am actively working with the managing agent of the property to address some problems with the signs as well as other traffic issues in the parking lot.
There are flyers in several of the stores informing shoppers of the new traffic pattern.  Please pass the word on to anyone you know, so that nobody has to get a ticket for being unaware of the new rules.

Thank you,
David

*** NOTICE OF NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN ***

Please note that for the safety of residents, some changes have recently been made to the Wesley Plaza shopping center.  Vehicles traveling North on Route 306 (from Grandview Avenue towards Willow Tree Road) will no longer be allowed to make a left turn into the South entrance (opposite Village Green).  To enter the shopping center, northbound vehicles need to proceed to the main entrance that faces the bank.  This change was recommended by the New York State Department of Transportation as a result of numerous accidents and near misses with cars coming out of Village Green.  Additional changes are in progress as to how and where commercial deliveries will be made.  Commercial vehicles should enter from Willow Tree Road, proceed to the rear of the building only, and exit onto Route 306 from the South entrance.

The Village had requested prior notice of when this change was going to take effect, so that we could educate residents of the new traffic pattern.  Unfortunately, that did not occur, and the new signs and striping were installed last week.

As a result, we have asked the Ramapo PD not to issue any summonses for violations of the new rules until the New Year.  This should allow sufficient time for everyone to get used to the new rules.

Thank you for your cooperation
