since at this time of the year the nights begin to grow longer
and "the night was created for study."

Memorializing the Murdered through the Teachings of their Master
The eight young men murdered on March 6, 2008 in
Yeshivat Mercaz HaRav in Jerusalem were all
fourth or fifth generation students of the revered
founder of that Yeshiva, more than eighty years ago,
Rav Abraham Isaac Kook. The teachings of Rav Kook
emphasize love of the Land of Israel and the People of Israel.
It would be especially appropriate to memorialize
these boys by perpetuating his teachings. To that end,
The OU plan to deliver a brief weekly lesson, based on his teachings,
for the duration of the year of mourning, concluding Rosh Chodesh Adar, 5769.

DAILY DOSE:
A Quiet Heart
The human heart is beautiful.
The human heart can know secrets deeper than any mind could know.
The mind cannot contain G-d, but deep inside the heart there is a place that can.
Yet there is nothing more dysfunctional than a brain controlled by emotions
In fact, the finest mind is capable of the most horrid crimes when under the heart's management.
Let the heart be quiet and hear out the mind. In that quiet listening,
she will discover her true beauty and her deepest secrets will awaken.
