Psalms 20, 83,121,130 and 142
Interest From G-d
Some people think that if they did something beautiful yesterday,
or last week, or even several years ago, they've done their part
and G-d should continue paying them for it the rest of their life.
It's something like loaning money with interest --
you lend it to someone last year and
you're still making a profit off him today.
Problem is, the Torah prohibits charging interest--even from G-d.
If you did good yesterday, do twice as good today.

Tehillim
The following chapters of Tehillim are recited
for our brothers and sisters in Eretz Yisrael:
Psalms 20, 83,121,130 and 142
Interest From G-d
Some people think that if they did something beautiful yesterday,
or last week, or even several years ago, they've done their part
and G-d should continue paying them for it the rest of their life.
It's something like loaning money with interest --
you lend it to someone last year and
you're still making a profit off him today.
Problem is, the Torah prohibits charging interest--even from G-d.
If you did good yesterday, do twice as good today.

"The Jews of New York":
The history of American Jews from the 17th century to the present is
explored. The informative overview also profiles prominent Jews in U.S.
history; highlights their success in the arts, business and science; and
details the discrimination and stereotyping they've faced.
Episode Detail: The Best of Times, the Worst of Times - The Jewish Americans
The early 20th century is recalled. Included are profiles of Supreme Court
Justice Louis Brandeis; Gertrude Berg, who created the "Goldbergs" radio and
TV series; and Henry Morgenthau, who served as treasury secretary in FDR's
cabinet. Also: the rise of the Hollywood movie studios; the popularity of
the Catskills, where comedy---and food---ruled; the anti-semitism Jews faced
in the U.S. from the likes of Henry Ford; the Leo Frank case.

The Bracha is not made on artificially preserved fruits or on fruits that are deficient in appearance or

Tu B'Shevat
Tuesday, January 22, 15 Shevat (Ezras Torah):
We omit Tachanun (we also do not say Tachanun the preceding Mincha [Monday afternoon]);
The custom is to eat fruits that grow on trees, for Tu B'Shevat is the "New Year of the Trees"
(We always make the Bracha שהחיינו on any seasonal fruit that one is eating for the first time that year.
The Bracha is not made on artificially preserved fruits or on fruits that are deficient in appearance or
taste in comparison to those of the regular seasonal crop.)
